Poway Studio Workshop

Disciplined High-Fire Stoneware

In our Southern California workshop, we fire dense mineral clays inside reduction kilns to produce resilient architectural stoneware and tailored vessels.

Clay Formulations

Formulated for Durability

Our clay slips and bodies are compounded in-house from California clays, coarse grog, and pulverized feldspar. This formulation guarantees extreme thermal shock resistance and commercial structural integrity under continuous service.

We allow natural iron pyrites to emerge during reduction rather than masking them. The resulting surfaces celebrate authentic tactile variation, delivering permanent character across hospitality dinnerware and interior installations.

Clay Pugging

Wheel and Slab Forming

Mineral Slip Glazing

Twelve-Hour Reduction

De-airing pugmills blend local clays and coarse refractory grog to eliminate air pockets and establish structural density before shaping.

Every vessel and architectural panel is thrown or slab-built by hand to precise tolerances specified for contract installations.

Natural ash, iron-rich slips, and custom feldspathic glazes are applied onto raw greenware after thorough atmospheric drying.

Kilns climb to Cone 10 in a starved oxygen atmosphere, drawing iron through the glaze to crystallize permanent mineral surfaces.

Studio Ethos

Uncompromised Mineral Permanence

We reject synthetic coatings and fast firing cycles. Every piece is built to withstand rigorous architectural utility while preserving the authentic, unvarnished weight of California earth.
